You Cannot Win Without Hustling

I'm a big fan of Evan Carmichael.  He delivers genuine, authentic and relevant information for entrepreneurs that is inspirational, motivational and thought provoking.  His YouTube following is growing by the masses everyday and for good reason.  As a straight hustler, I love this week's video.  It resonates with me and it is great advice for my clients and all of you.  And what better way to start your day on the first official day of spring, then with a little hustling motivation?

There may be people way ahead of you in your field and craft, but if you hustle harder and work smart you can surpass them all.

One of the biggest mistakes that I see with businesses on Martha's Vineyard is complacency and resistance to change.  Staying ahead of the curve, being a trend setter and differentiation is a  must. Everyday we see big box stores closing.  And although sad to see (RIP Toys R' Us) this opens the door to Main Street businesses everywhere that differentiate themselves and provide stellar customer experiences.  As THE Martha's Vineyard Business Coach, I help small business owners who want to get ahead and be successful, every damn day.

Where is one area in your business that you could be hustling harder to get ahead?

Help Wanted on Martha's Vineyard (#HelpWantedMV)

We're heading into February and employers are already looking to hire their seasonal help.  Everyday I work with small business owners and start ups to create long term plans to be successful and make money doing something that they love doing.  In an additional effort to support the small business community and connect them with potential employees, I want you to use the hashtag #HelpwantedMV.  If you are an employer or someone looking for a job, hashtag your posts to connect on your social media channels.

Additional note for potential employees!  Make sure your social media accounts are a good reflection of who you are.  You'd think this was a no-brainer since I taught my 15 year old son about social media presence and how it may impact your future years ago....but so many adults still don't get it! An employer is going to Google you before hiring you anyway, so go ahead and clean up those social media accounts now, okay?

Shop Local- Martha's Vineyard & Cape Cod

Hustle & Thrive Company was born out of my passion for entrepreneurship and the desire to help keep small local merchant doors open.  When we shop local, we strengthen our local communities and create opportunities for future generations. Our Main Streets are not just on Main Street.  Local jelly and jam makers, the neighbor who sells jewelry at craft fairs and little girls I know like Zoe Tucker of Zoe's Bath Bomb Shop who make and sell pretty packaged bath bombs with the help of her supportive entrepreneurial mama, are all vital components of strong local economies.

Youth entrepreneurship is more important than ever as online giants compete for local dollars.  We've got to start these little geniuses early! The skills that the process of the youth entrepreneurship journey teaches are invaluable to children in all aspects of life, not just in business.  Nothing makes me happier than seeing a couple of kiddos running a lemonade stand in the middle of July. That's really what it's all about.

Living on Martha's Vineyard, a small community filled with many artists and artisans, shopping local couldn't be more important to the people who live here.  A quick ferry ride away is a much larger Cape Cod filled with beautiful small towns layered with Main Streets and the smell of the freedoms of small business ownership.

Do you try to shop local whenever you can?  Here are a couple of Facebook covers for your profile.  Show your friends it's important to you too!
